Benefits From Playing Softball

What benefits will my daughter receive from playing tournament softball?

All Baseliners Girls softball players will learn the game of fast pitch softball inside and out.  Skills, strategies, record keeping, and exercises will be taught to all girls at the appropriate levels.  They will play in extremely competitive leagues and tournaments, and they will be winners in some and losers in others.

Sports is where boys have traditionally learned about teamwork, goal-setting, the pursuit of excellence in performance, and other achievement-oriented behaviours — critical skills necessary for success in the workplace and in life.  Your daughter will learn these skills playing tournament softball.

Position specific skills will be taught to all players with the intention of building a broad range of skill in each girl.  You, your daughter, and the coach will all provide input as to the positions that your daughter will be taught to play.

Practicing indoors in the winter provides a needed activity and place for our daughters to go.  Most of the girls playing tournament softball do not fall into the “wrong” crowd. The people associated with our organization are good people, who care deeply that the young women in our community be given the chance to grow up in a positive, constructive, healthy environment.

Being involved in tournament softball will give your daughter another set of friends besides the ones in the neighborhood or the ones in school.  This gives your daughter the strength to resist peer pressure from a single group of friends who may not be making the best choices.  She can say “NO” without the fear of losing ALL her friends.

Your daughter will know that what she is doing is important.  This is a top notch program, and to visibly show that, your daughter will be provided with team uniforms that are second to none. We want her to have an organization she can be proud to belong to.

We know many of the high school coaches and will provide an opportunity for these people to become acquainted with the younger teams where possible.  Tournament softball is the springboard into high school softball.  More college athletic scholarships are awarded through tournament softball exposure than high school alone.

Everyone will learn the mechanics of being part of a large volunteer organization.  All girls, as well as their families, participate in fund raising activities.  The girls learn responsibility as they set a team goal and earn the funds required to meet that goal.  All younger girls will be given the opportunity to “hang out” at some of the older girls practices, and all older girls will be given the opportunity to help with some of the younger girls practices.  We intend to build a “team” larger than just the other girls on your daughter’s team.

Your entire family will be invited to attend all occasions where we are able to retain guest speakers on subjects of interest; your entire family may also join in all team and organizational outings.  We have found that families who share the entire summer tournament season spend more quality time together than if they had merely been
home together during the summer.

You and your daughter will have access to our library of instructional videos; your daughter will have access to various training devices; your daughter will be able to attend the Baseliners Spring Training Program.

Your daughter will learn about commitment.  Participation in Baseliners requires a commitment on the part of the coaches, players and parents.  Our coaches donate many hours of their personal time because of their commitment to the girls who wish to play tournament softball.  Coaches will discuss this commitment with each of
you regarding practice attendance, games and tournaments, as well as the financial obligations prior to assigning your daughter to a Baseliners team.
